Hola. I’m Helen Rivers. I live just outside the beautiful Lake District in England. I have studied languages since the age of 9 and really enjoyed learning the Spanish language when studying it at University. During my four year degree I spent time studying in Spain where I fell head over heels with the culture and lifestyle. It was during that time abroad that I learnt the majority of my Spanish because I immersed myself in the culture.
I worked in industry using my languages after obtaining my degree and then decided to move to teaching so I could share my love for all things Spanish. After my Post Graduate Certificate in Education, I spent 20 years working in schools teaching both primary and secondary learners.
I have a great passion for both the language, the culture and teaching and I’m 100% committed to ensuring the success of my students.
Outside of that, my passions are my family, travel, family history, scuba diving, web design and anything creative.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to know any Spanish?
No, not at all. We teach learners from complete beginners right up to advanced.
What are the classes like?
Each week you will be able to pick and choose from a variety of live grammar, conversation, culture and speaking practice sessions.
There are also monthly Deep Dives, Language Learning Hack Sessions, Guest Speaker Events and Quiz Nights available to choose from. You get to pick what matters most to you.
You’ll also get access to recordings of our VIP cooking and culture classes and cook-alongs.
What is the maximum number of students in a class?
Most classes are not limited in terms of how many students can attend, however we’re a growing service so for now classes are small.
If you wish to guarantee that your classes are capped at 10 per class you would be more suited to our VIP classes. You can find out more about them below:
Do I need to prepare for each class?
No preparation is needed, however we recommend that you ensure your environment is distraction free. It’s also a good idea to come prepared with something to take notes with and a drink. You’ll also find you learn a lot better if you have had a good night’s sleep the night before.
Can I move to a different level class?
Of course. We want to ensure you’re in the right level class. If you feel you have progressed to the next level, just get in touch with us and request a new level assessment. We’ll happily move you into the level that best suits you.
How do I access the classes?
Once you have booked your individual classes, you’ll receive a zoom link so you can join the class at the right time and date. Provided you have an internet connection you can access lessons on any device, however, you’ll find it a smoother experience via a laptop or computer.
How long is each class?
Each class lasts at least 60 minutes. We try to stick to 60 minutes to be respectful of your time, but sometimes lessons do run over. If you have to miss the end you can always catch this on the replay.
How is payment taken?
Payment is taken when you sign up for a 1, 3 or 6 month membership via our secure online payment system.Â
How do I renew my membership?
Because we want to ensure you have uninterrupted access to classes when you renew, the monthly, quarterly or biannual payment will continue on a rolling basis, however you can opt out of this at any time.
